Guilt(y) Pleasures

Another amazing remix from Pantha Du Prince dropped into my inbox last week. This time he turns his talents to Indie popsters The Long Blondes. To be honest I don't think I've ever heard any of their records but I'm very tempted to check their material after hearing this.

As usual Pantha Du Prince adds his classic synth washes and melodic structure which creates a beautiful fusion with the hushed ethereal vocals touches.

This mix is definitely as good if not better than his Animal Collective mix which we posted a few weeks ago. Taken from the album 'Couples', 'Guilt' will be released as a single on the 26th of May. Buy

Boss Sounds

This track by 'The Boss' has been a guilty pleasure of mine since my teens. We aren't the first blog to post this and undoubtabley not the last. Cousin Cole has given 'I'm On Fire' a masterly re-fix that is brilliantly simple utilising extra synths and a subtle 4/4 beat.

Todd Terje recently used this track in his Resident Adviser podcast and I can see this mix causing quite a stir over the summer. It's a perfect Balearic terrace tune.

This track features on Cole's Tambourine Dream mix album and EP. The super-limited (200 hand-screened copies) unmixed CDs for Tambourine Dream (with a bonus track from Pocketknife) will be in shops in a week or so. Buy Here

Random Remixes

Two massive remixes here.

Firstly it is (now everyone's favourite) Dubstep producer Burial giving his trademark refix to Bloc Party. This is taken from their 12" Flux

It is textbook Burial with rain samples, 2 step beats, haunting atmospherics, a beguiling melodic hook and snatched vocal samples. This could have easily sat on his album Untrue.

Next is a simple Tech-House tune from Dubfire that has been given Matthew Dear's Audion treatment.

This is another classic Audion remix. It reminds me somewhat of his Hot Chip remake with echoey vocal moans and a simple analogue riff. This though is taken up to the next level halfway through the track with a huge 'French Kiss' style slow-mo breakdown and soaring synths that will have you going loopy on the dancefloor. Massive.

Paranormal Activity

There is currently lots of activity over at Ghostly International and Spectral Sound. I got sent the brand new remix album from Lusine (AKA Jeff Mcllwain). Entitled Podgelism (Tracks taken from his debut album Serial Hodgepodge) it is a stunning collection of glitchy rhythms and intricate melodies remixed by himself plus other top-flight electronica producers including Apparat, John Tejada, Lawrence and Matthew Dear.

My favourites from the album include scatter-shot rhythms and warm tones of Flat (Lusine Remix) and Falling In (Lusine Remix). Matthew Dear steels the show however with his pure liquid electronics interpretation of Flat For You. Masterful.
Unfortunately I'm only allowed to give you one treat from this album but you can listen to the rest of this superb collection here.

Next up are some brand new remixes of one off the biggest tunes of last year. Audion's Mouth To Mouth was a track of atomic bomb proportions, destroying every dancefloor within a 50 mile radius. It's no surprise then to learn that is has got the remix treatment from both Heartthrob and Konrad Black. Trying to better the energy of the original would be impossible so both producers have opted to strip the track right back to it's minimal foundations leaving it's bassline and adding snippets of the original synths which gave it such a distinct sound.

We can't give you the full versions but my boy RAW has done a special little edit for your listening pleasure. You can however listen to the other mixes here.
