Wave Exploration

For today's post, I'm going to do a spot of shameless self-promotion by giving you some tracks from the fledgling Solition Research netlabel I co-run.

Some of you may have seen the link on the right or even visited the site previously but we've recently given it a facelift and put some new music up so I thought it was time to mention it here.

Based on my largely techno-related posts I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear that this is the defining influence on the Soliton sound, not that we've created a distinct identity as of yet, although we've dabbled in other genres too.

So, as per my favoured review style, I'll keep the words brief and just leave you with the music.

First up is my latest one, a slice of relatively minimal techno and then comes an older offering of chunky electro from my partner in crime:

Nanorhythm – Zero

Outrigger – Elvis

We're also up to number four in our mix series, this time enlisting the ill-ec-tro-nic's very own Langer to do the deed and he's done us proud. You can check out the results for yourself below and find the track list on the mixes page of the site - www.solitonresearch.com

Audion Resuscitation

Matthew Dear is back again in his Audion guise, he sure is being prolific at the moment, what with his recent collaboration with Ellen Allien on the Man/Woman split 12" Phonica describes this release as "One of the defining tracks of the closing parties of the Ibiza clubs. A full on energy trip to the dancefloor and back 'Mouth To Mouth' is a pure hands-in-the-air anthemic monster that'll just demolish any dancefloor." Yep, I think I would wholeheartedly agree. I will be over in the white isle next week for a quick jaunt, hearing this on the right dancefloor would make my summer.

EDIT: FILE REMOVED BY REQUEST.

Isolated

It's brand new Isolee! When I saw this on beatport I knew I had to share this with you immediatly. Isolee's releases are always assured to be of the upmost quality and this is no exception. This slice of gliched-up micro funk follows on from his sublime 'We are Monster' LP last year and continues in the direction of that sound. His take on so called 'minimalism' is in fact to fill a track with so many subtle variations and inflections that it renders the term useless.

Dirty Dubs

I thought I'd give you a slightly different take on minimalism today by sharing a couple of tasty nuggets from the thriving dubstep scene. It's not a genre I claim to know a great deal about but due to experiencing Various Production at the excellent Werk parties in South London then seeing quite a bit of media attention regarding Burial's album I decided to check both LPs out and was suitably impressed with the contents. So rather than rambling on about sparse bottom heavy soundscapes punctuated with dark synth stabs etc etc, I'll just post some tracks and let the music speak for itself. Enjoy.

Burial - Wounder Burial LP (Hyperdub)

Various Production - Hater The World is Gone LP (XL)

You can currently buy both of these albums from Boomkat at rock bottom prices as well as read the (overly enthusiatic) reviews that go with them:
