Boss Sounds
This track by 'The Boss' has been a guilty pleasure of mine since my teens. We aren't the first blog to post this and undoubtabley not the last. Cousin Cole has given 'I'm On Fire' a masterly re-fix that is brilliantly simple utilising extra synths and a subtle 4/4 beat.Todd Terje recently used this track in his Resident Adviser podcast and I can see this mix causing quite a stir over the summer. It's a perfect Balearic terrace tune.
This track features on Cole's Tambourine Dream mix album and EP. The super-limited (200 hand-screened copies) unmixed CDs for Tambourine Dream (with a bonus track from Pocketknife) will be in shops in a week or so. Buy Here

How Are Things On The West Coast?
I've just got my hands on a cheeky remix of the new single "The Heinrich Maneuver" by Interpol.
Paul 'Phones' Epworth is the man behind this bass heavy Electro House version of this track. I wonder how all the hardcore Interpol fans are going to handle this as he rips apart the vocals and adds a scuzzy bass and joyful piano riffs. Sweet.

The new album "Our Love To Admire" has really grown on me over the last few listens with tracks like "Mammoth", "Rest My Chemistry" and "No I in Threesome" up there with their best material. These will definitely be considered as classic Interpol in the months to come.
Buy this album and give it a few listens to really sink into your psyche.

The Psyche's Out

I've been wanting to do a Psychedelic/Garage Rock post for some time now and having just acquired some new material from Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve, the time has finally presented itself. As you are probably aware, the two Wizards of which I speak are one Erol Alkan and Richard Norris and using their magical production skills they cut-up and re-edit classic Psyche Rock tracks.
The duo have just released a new EP entitled 'George' and their first 'Beyond The Wizards Sleeve EP' has been re-pressed for your aural Pleasure. They have also just Remixed Findlay Brown on Peacefrog recordings, turning his folky charms into one long Psychedelic wig out.

I couldn't do a proper Psyche post without including some original classics of the genre so here are some proper 60's moments from The 13th Floor Elevators; 'Slip Inside This House' was covered by Primal Scream on Screamadelica; The Chambers Brothers' Time Has Come Today appeared on Optimo's Psyche Out mix last year (here it is though in it's full 11 minute Psychedelic Soul version) and finally a classic from the Nuggets Compilation from the Electric Prunes.
