In My Absence
I have been neglecting the blog of late. Two festivals and long hours at the office have contributed to my lack of posts. Luckily in my absence RAW has posted some gems which have gained much critical acclaim from you electro fans out there.However I have some quality Techno to share. First up is some tracks sent by DJ Robbie Pardoel straight out of Rotterdam, Holland. The Agatho EP in colaboration with Van Hilst contains three slices of deep Techno. The title track utilises some uplifting synth action that carries the track to some dizzying heights. "Pardo Extra Large" goes into deeper territory and sounds more menacing. Another producer who has only started releasing music since 2006 but has notched up releases on Get Physical, Resopal Schalware, MiniSketch and Fumakilla.Paul Ritch. His latest on Get Physical is a killer which should ignite dancefloors with it's tough beats and wailing siren sounds that give way to a driving riff which will send anyone within earshot into some serious loopy aerobics. Nice.

Flashback by Arwid starts off in a similar vain to the previous offerings, but then goes deep and mellows into a beautiful beguiling melody, perfect for mid set mixing. O Superwoman
I have been wanting an excuse to post this masterpiece of surreal New Wave - Art Rock since I started this blog. Laurie Anderson is an American performance artist and composer. Her work has incorporated graphics, lighting, sculpture, mime, slides, film, speech, music and many electronics, some of her own design. By 1976, her performances were featured prominently in museums and concert venues across Europe and North America. O Superman was released in 1981 and was a suprise crossover hit, reaching number 2 in the British charts.I came across this amazing record somewhat a bit late. I hadn't even heard it until 2 years ago when it was played on a John Peel tribute show (It was one of his all-time favourites.) I was instantly mesmerised by the beautiful haunting sounds and vocals.
My excuse for posting it now is that it has been given the remix treatment by M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade for the 5 Years of Get Physical compilation soon to be released. I always new that the sparse electronics would be perfect for a dancefloor re-interpretation and I am not dissapointed. However at just over 5 minutes the remix is shorter than the original. I think this could have worked really well as an epic 12 minute tranced out mix.

This Week I Have Been Mostly Listening To....
My mood has been dark this week. Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's work. These tunes have complemented my state of mind. The Burial album is the sound of urban isolation, echos in subway underpasses. The warm glow of a halogen street lamp.

Heartthrob - Baby Kate (Sascha Funke Remix) // Minus
This mix by Sascha Funke of Heartthrob is totally hypnotising. It's a dubbed out reworking which which will have you lost in the bassline and cycling synth lines. One of the best Techno records so far this year.
OST & Kjex - How Not To Be A Biscuit // Crosstown Rebels
Elektrochemie - Muck Star (Original Mix) // Get Physical
On a more dancefloor oriented tip here are a couple of tunes that are uplifting yet retain dark undercurrents. OST & Kjex released this mesmerising tune late last year that has synth elements of 'The Sky Was Pink' (yet another one) but still retains its originality and is a progression of the sound.
Mucky Star is the brand new track by Elektrochemie who were responsible for last year's Your My Kind! which utilised the vocal talents of Caitlin Devlin alongside the production work of Thomas Schumacher and one Stephan Bodzin, the man responsible for the Rekorder series and also a big fan of the production style seen on the OST & Kjex tracks, check Rekorder 5.1 and 7.1 to see what I mean. The vocal on this reminds me of Roisin Murphy of Moloko.
