The Admiration Of Love
After nearly a three year wait "Our Love To Admire" the new album by my Favourite Indie band - Interpol is virtually here. I wish I could share some exclusives from the album but I have only heard the first single "The Heinrich Maneuver" so far, but it certainly has wetted my appetite for the new material. I'm not going to post The Heinrich Maneuver however as it is already all over the interweb. What I can give you though is this beautiful Electro reworking of "Untitled" which I have simply fallen in love with.It is the work of Datassette a young man also known as Datashat from London who has released material on respected imprints such as Ai Records.

Industrial Chemistry
Having heard the New Wave Electro stylings of the scientifically challenged, Crash Course In Science over at ON-OFF blog, I decided to do some more investigating into this band's sound. Having listened to the angular industrial beats and stark analogue synths, I had assumed that this was a record produced a few years previously and sporned during the Electroclash movement from around 2003. How wrong I was.
Cardboard Lamb is a proto Industrial, New Wave Electropop masterpiece from way back in 1981. Formed in 1979 in Philadelphia, Crash Course In Science is the collective of Dale Feliciello, Mallory Yago and Michael Zodorozny utilising toy instruments and live drums, which later gave way to crude drum machines and home-made synths. Their sound is angular and stark, yet possesses a robotic funkiness.
Cardboard Lamb has just been re-released with new mixes from Vitalic, David Carretta plus a re-working from the band themselves. You can buy the new release from Beatport.

Here is another classic from the Industrial New Wave scene. P1/E is the pseudonym of one Alexander Hacke and one member of Einstürzende Neubauten. Again released in 1981, '49 Second Romance' is classic stark industrial synth music which still sounds totally fresh and relevent to todays scene. These tracks have been hammered by the likes of Optimo and tracks from Crash Course In Science and P1/E appear on their Cold War mix, still available here

What Hot Chip Did Next
After their huge success in '06 Hot Chip have thrown caution to the wind and come up with some of their most diverse material yet. Booji Boy High is the work of two of the members of the group under the pseudonyms of Georgios Panayiotou and Mother Markzbow. Also on vocal detail is the ever gifted Alexis effecting the whole effort with his sweet vocal stylings.Phonica describe the whole affair thus: "They come on strong with the bounciest bounce of the next year, New Rave left dead in its grave, replaced by the rainbow rhythms of the New Age. 'Doubleshaw' is an anthem of love and disbelief for a dear friend of theirs, a party animal of great intelligence and wit. It jumps!
